The air is heavy with the rotting corpses
Atop the bodies sits an altar of flesh
Defiled icon, a crow’s feast
Marker to the fall of man
I hear the screams and the cries of ravens
Vanguard to the carrion horde
The flock burns with a darkened hunger
To pick the skin from my bones
The Storm seethes
Flesh has become meat
The beasts gather with great speed
Under banner of black wings
(As they take flight)
Now they’ve come at last to take me
Infernal servant to the damned
Left to walk this blighted landscape
Atonement for my sins at hand
These visions of torture
Let Aeons return to take me
My masters, enslavers
Sentinel to their creation
The world is but ashes
Forsaken and left to die
Grant mercy, give rapture
Let me join your grand design
No mercy, destruction
Your prayers will fall on deaf ears
No shelter, damnation
Your worship’s all but empty
Give penance, no answer
Your Lord has cast a blind eye
Kinslayer, deceiver
This holocaust is without end
The flock descends with a shriek of fury
I’m dragged beneath the black whirlwind
As my body is ripped to pieces
I’m enlightened by Death’s cold hand
We are slaves to our own creation
Our allegiance, a sacrifice
Is this my foretold ascension?
Or just the end to an empty omen?
